What Is Implant Supported Teeth Replacement?

Choices for a missing tooth or teeth utilizing implants:

An implant is a tooth-root replacement that has an intermediate stage or piece that comes through the gumline or implant. There are different attachments or replacement options on the abatements.

Add implants and build bridgework on top of implants. Not every tooth will need an implant underneath.
Build a complete arch of bridgework on 6 to 8 implants.

The main type of implant-supported denture:

Bar-retained: A thin metal bar runs along the jaw line and is attach to two to five implants. Clasps are fixed along the bar and dentures so that the dentures can be secured to the bar and held firmly in place.

What’s Involved

We create a template of here we want to put a tooth or teeth to be supported by the implants.
We then use the template with a 3D CT Scan in the office to determine where we will be placing the implants. At this time, we will also determine what, if any, additional procedures or modifications will need to be done to gain bone volume.
Once the bone value is adequate, there is a surgical procedure to place the implants.
The implants are left to heal and integrate into the bone, which takes approximately four months.
After the healing is complete, impressions or molds are taken and sent to our lab who will make the reconstructions that range from a tooth to a full arch. This can take anywhere from six weeks to nine months depending on the complexity of the patient’s chosen reconstruction.

Implant Denture Aftercare

You will need to remove and clean your denture and all attachments every night. Your implant-supported denture will be more stable and comfortable than your regular denture. You will be able to eat foods that you couldn’t with regular dentures, and you’ll feel confident while speaking and socializing.
